Product Details
There is probably no other tank that has inspired more curiosity and interest in the entire history of mechanized armor than the Panzer VIII MAUS. It is surrounded by an aura of mystery, and the facts are mixed about it with the legends surrounding growing over the years. The Panzerkampfwagen VIII ”MAUS” was a prototype German super heavy tank from the Second World War. It was the heaviest and largest tank ever built. It weighed over 188 tons! The project was carried out in the years 1942-1944. Only two incomplete prototypes were ever built and never entered service. In April 1945, the Red Army captured both abandoned Maus prototypes, which were located at the Kummersdorf training ground. They were assembled into a vehicle with the hull of the first prototype and the turret of the second. This hybrid is still one of the main attractions of the Tank Museum in Kubinka near Moscow. Panzer VIII ”MAUS” #2559 is a very special model in the COBI collection! It was built from the beginning in 1:28 scale and is 39 cm long!
