Product Details

The Northrop F-5A Freedom Fighter was a light fighter aircraft that was developed in the 1960s by the American Northrop Corporation. It was introduced into service in 1964. The F-5A was a popular export model and gained recognition around the world. Its main features were maneuverability, simplicity of operation and relatively low operating price. This aircraft played an important role in many armed conflicts and served as a platform for training pilots. Between 1966 and 1972, Norway purchased a total of 108 F-5 aircraft in various versions. These planes were used in the Air Force for almost 35 years, during which they underwent a number of modernization programs. 336 Squadron at Rygge Air Base was the last unit to use the F-5, and the aircraft were withdrawn from active service in 2000.
